The Essence of Today's Khutbah
The Conquest of Makkah:
MCC-SD 1/17/2025
Sh. Ahmed Billoo
i) In the six years after the Prophet (ﷺ) had migrated to Madinah there were signs of things to come! He (ﷺ) invited his flock to join in journey to Makkah to perform Umrah.
ii) Donning in their ahram on to the seven days journey - at the outskirts of Makkah there were signs that the Quresh sending army to prevent their entry. Hence, they took a slight detour.
iii) Uthman r.a. was send to negotiate a ceasefire. Soon rumors spread that was killed. The Prophet (ﷺ) took pledge of allegiance of his companions.
iv) But it turned out that Uthman r.a. was not killed. The Quresh send Suhail - there was a glimmer of hope! We all know of the ceasefire announcement and 100+ people of Gaza were killed! What we have seen ... people of Gaza celebrating. Their joy is our joy their grief our grief!
v) We see videos and images of folks in Gaza celebrating and jumping for joy - praising Allah SWT! Their joy is our joy, their grief is ours.
vi) Negative about premature celebration thoughts? Our senile president and the incoming psychopath, notwithstanding!
vii) The Prophet (ﷺ) was the source of optimism. The Treaty of Hudaibiyah clauses didn't appear appealing! Omar r.a. was vocally upset with the terms of the treaty. Asking the (ﷺ) why accepting such terms of the treaty!
viii) Allah SWT revealed "Indeed, We have given you, [O Muhammad], a clear conquest..." (SurahAl-Fath:1) The Prophet (ﷺ) in the Treaty of Hudaibiyah saw the short-term sacrifice for long-term benefits. (The Conquest of Makkah: The Victory)
ix) Something of a blessing in disguise. The Treaty of Hudaibiyah folks soon saw the Bigger Picture! The perpetrators will not not go scot-free. The wildfires in LA - what if at the same time as folks were running away from the fire were bombed like the Gazan!
x) May Allah SWT elevate the ranks of the Gazans and in turn ours who have been pleading for the Almighty's help. Ameen! Ya Rabbal 'Alamin!
