ISSV Statement and Response to the Shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego

The Islamic Society of Simi Valley is deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at the Islamic Center of San Diego which claimed the lives of three members of the Muslim community. An attack on a place of worship and a sanctuary is of the worst acts imaginable and is to be condemned by all people of conscience. We offer our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and all those directly impacted. May Allah grant those who were martyred Jannat al Firdous and grant the families patience and strength at this difficult time.

In response to this tragedy, ISSV has reached out to local law enforcement to make them aware of our concerns and requested additional patrols and surveillance during scheduled activities at the masjid including our Jumah and upcoming Eid prayers. We will also be increasing our security precautions and presence during events at the masjid. There may be some adjustments made to access points during larger events - please follow the directions of security and masjid personnel.

May Allah protect and strengthen our community and end senseless acts of violence and hatred. We are committed to peace, safety, dialogue, community engagement and the religious freedom this nation was founded on and stand in solidarity with all who share those values.
