Statement from Stevenage Muslim Community Centre (SMCC) on the Heaton Park Synagogue Attack
The heinous incident at the Heaton Park Synagogue on the 2nd October 2025 has shocked us all. The Muslim community and SMCC extend our deepest condolences to the Jewish community and anyone affected by this appalling act of hatred. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.
We stand in solidarity against this senseless and abhorrent act of terror against members of British civil society. There is no justification for mindless violence which only serves to fuel hatred and hostilities.
Every community and religion has the freedom and right to worship in safety and we endeavour to uphold this principle which is embedded in the basic teaching of Islam.
Our communities stand united in grief and this incident has strengthen our resolve to curtail extremism and stand against the evil which seeks to divide and harm humanity.
We urge everyone in the community to stay calm and vigilant at this difficult time.
