The Essence of Today's Khutbah Upholding Truth, Overcoming Oppression! MCC 7/4/2025 Sh. Ali Salah - Al Nour Center i) In Islam, sins are actions or omissions that go against the commands & will of Allah SWT. We humans are sustainable to shortcomings and shaytan takes advantage of it. ii) Allah SWT gives hikmah and hidayaat to whom He wills and those guided are not easily sustainable to misguidance. And those who believe the Prophet (ﷺ) is the Khatam an-Nabiyyin. iii) This is the counsel from Allah SWT. The Qu'ran calls it the The Best Ummah/Nation. And we as the vicegerent of Allah have a great responsibility! iv) What is the Purpose of our Creation? To worship Allah SWT and serve Him.We are the 'Ummah of Iqra’. Alas! we are witnessing Muslims and their leadership being wishy- washy and ignorant! v) Hadith: To whomever Allah wills goodness, He grants him understanding of the religion. This hidayaat and deep awareness Allah SWT gives for the goodness of the community and society. This Hadith itself is based on the Ayat from Surah al-Baqarah Ayat 269: "He gives wisdom to whom He wills, and whoever has been given wisdom has certainly been given much good. And none will remember except those of understanding. vi) We have a collective responsibility. The Quranic ayats and the Taqwa teaches us for working together and cooperate with one another. Islamic scholars have also been making us aware of it. vii) We are the khatim of Rasulullah (ﷺ) - the Khatam an-Nabiyyin! Nowadays, there are challenges and obstacles. There is attacks on the family! Our leadership also has the responsibility to work on fixing it. viii) Sincere Efforts are needed. The Quran is the foundation of Islam. For the sake of Allah SWT we ought to be working together as one ummah - one society! The Prophet (ﷺ) when he made the Hijrah - the first thing he did was to establish a Masjid. ix) “The parable of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.” We ought to establish Justice - upholding His decree with Iman and Taqwa. If our intention is there - Allah SWT gives us the the taufiq & hidayaat. We humans are sustainable to shortcomings. x) Ashura – Upholding Truth, Overcoming Oppression! Fasting on the Day of Ashura. Hadith: “I hope from Allah that fasting on the day of Ashura will atone for the sins of the preceding year.” (Sahih Muslim) May Allah SWT gives us the taufiq and hidayaat to make good efforts. Ameen!
