Announcements for Friday, May 17, 2024:
1. Inshallah, there will be a booth and table after jumuah, as IOST is helping Jamiah Riyadhul Jannah Mozambique to raise funds for their well service and housing for poor students. This is a school/madrasa run by Imam Sofian's close friend in one of the poorest areas of Mozambique. Please see the flyer below for more details and consider making a donation at the table. You can make a donation by visiting the booth after Jumuah or clicking here: https://themasjidapp.org/iost/donations/1897
2. IOST has two events tonight. Firstly, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, Sister Laila Hasan Awauda will be visiting us from Palestine speaking about her personal account and experiences in Palestine. Topics include life in Gaza, before and after October 7, and what the media doesn't tell you. Please consider attending and learning from her.
Following the program, there will be a community potluck dinner from 7:30 to 8:30 PM.
3. There is a request for duas of shifa, as local community member Dr. Mohammad Imtiaz's mother is very sick. Please make dua that Allah (swt) cures her, gives her a complete and swift recovery, and makes it easy for her and her family.
4. There will be a lunch sale today inshallah following both jumuahs. Please consider purchasing a lunch and making a donation for this week's cause (for the Islamic school in Mozambique).
5. Lastly, Sister Sumeeta Chaudhri is running for Vestal School board this year. We are asking all Vestal residents to please vote for her this Tuesday, May 21. Sister Sumeeta will have a table at the Jumuah so you can meet her, learn more about her campaign, and see what her vision & purpose is for the Vestal Board of Education.
About Sister Sumeeta Chaudhri: She, along with her husband, Dr. Kamran Chaudhri have been Vestal residents for over 17 years, they have 2 children who graduated from Vestal high school and one daughter currently in 10th grade.
